Тойм:The present thesis titled COMPETENCES OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AS A PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL STRATEGY TO REDUCE AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR IN PARALLEL YEAR STUDENTS OF THE BASQUE EDUCATION SCHOOL 18 NOVEMBER, PERIOD 2017-2018, was proposed with the objective of developing competences of emotional intelligence through a psychoeducational strategy with the purpose of reducing aggressive behaviors in students. The design of the research is of a descriptive type with a pre-experimental approach, the methods used were: analysis-synthesis, inductivedeductive and hermeneutic. As an instrument we used the aggression questionnaire A-Q of Buss and Perry (1992), which measures four types of aggression: physical aggression, verbal aggression, hostility and anger, in three high, medium and low stages, in a sample of 23 students. According to the results, most students are at a high level of aggressiveness, that is 87% of the population have hostility, 69.56% anger, verbal aggression 69.6 and 60.9% physical aggression, after applying the psychoeducational strategy, these results decreased: hostility 13.01%, anger 8.7, verbal aggression 21.7% and physical aggression 30.4%. It is concluded that the application of the proposal based on the components of emotional intelligence directly benefited a large percentage of students improved their interpersonal relationships in addition to achieving a healthy coexistence inside and outside the classroom. Therefore, it is recommended to use the skills of emotional intelligence as a viable and safe strategy to reduce aggressive behaviors in adolescents.
