Summary:The topic of this research is indications and complications in patients admitted in the Caesarean section in the Isidro Ayora Hospital of Loja period January, February, and March 2016. The overall objective is to determine the indications and complications of Caesarean section, the specific objectives are to determine the factors that lead to the termination of cesarean delivery, establish the principal complications of caesarean and knowing the number of caesarean sections by age group. It is a cross-sectional retrospective study, the same as was done in the service of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Isidro Ayora Hospital of Loja. The universe and sample consisted by 274 patients with a history of caesarean catered from January 1st to March 31th in 2016. Also data sheet hospital discharge and medical records were obtained. As to the results it was determined that the main indication of cesarean previous cesarean with 12.4%, in second place, acute fetal distress with 10.5%, in third place, with 10.2% oligohidramnios, lastly twin pregnancy with 1.0%. As for complications after cesarean section it was determined that 77.7% of patients had no complications and 5.1% presented post puncture headache. In addition, the Caesarean section was performed with the highest percentage of 37.9% in an age range of 21 to 25 years, with the lowest percentage of 1.8% in patients older than 41 years. The main conclusions arrived throughout the paper is that the main indications for cesarean section are previous cesarean delivery, fetal distress, oligohydramnios, Besides most of the patients presents no complications Caesarean post and the age group in which more performed the Caesarean section was between 21-25 years.
