Summary:The present investigation work was carried out with the objective of determining the behavior and knowledge of the premenstrual syndrome in the students of the Pious School Jaramillo Alvarado, in the period December 2011 - September 2013. This study is of traverse, prospective and descriptive court, with an universe conformed by 600 students and a sample constituted by 304 students with diagnosis of Premenstrual Syndrome that you/they study from the 8vo year of basic education up to the 3ro of high school, in educational this entity, to those that are applied a survey, obtaining as results: the students' 61% has knowledge of the premenstrual syndrome, 55% has had as source of information the institution where they are educated. 51% presents sintomatología of the premenstrual syndrome, 93% uses medications, the fármaco more used in 44% it is Ibuprofeno, 33% they present symptoms and psychological signs, all the students' 40% with premenstrual syndrome has the age of 14 años,36% they present school absenteeism for sintomatología related with the premenstrual syndrome and 48% they require medical care for sintomatología of the premenstrual syndrome. It is recommended: To the doctors and psychologists, to take an active list in the opportune handling of the premenstrual syndrome, to improve the labor productivity of the women and to avoid the school absenteeism of the adolescents
