Summary:Electronic money is essential in today's society as it facilitates transactions quickly and safely, which increases commerce and improves economic efficiency, in addition to allowing financial inclusion, reducing the need for cash, minimizing costs and the risk of theft. . The objective of which was “To establish the level of incidence of the use of electronic money in the Loja economy as an instrument that allows streamlining financial transactions in the commercial sector”, based on a methodology with a mixed approach, of a descriptive type, using methods with the deductive, inductive and historical and applying techniques such as the survey, which was applied to 383 people and 30 merchants in the city and the interview with a specialist, manager of a local bank. It can be established that 62% of the population has a lot of knowledge of electronic money and that for 40% of them the implementation of electronic money is good, although it has not had the expected response; For their part, 93% of Loja businessmen use electronic money; using 82% for more than 3 years, although 68% believe it is good and 75% have not received any benefits for its use, 68% consider that the lack of training on its use is the biggest problem; concluding that the limited use of electronic money has shown that, although there is a high level of knowledge and acceptance of electronic money among the population of Loja, its actual use remains low, mainly among those with a lower educational level and older age; recommending that to encourage the use of electronic payment methods in Loja, it is important to implement financial education programs and training for merchants, employees and citizens.
