| Riassunto: | At the appearance of the pandemic caused by the covid-19, medical education like other fields has been adapted to ensure basic standards of formation. The investigation is intended to analyze the professional formation of the medical in the subject General Surgery in times of virtuality due to the covid-19 quarantine, trying to explain the competences that must be acquired during the teaching of said subject. Moreover, it will be taken into account socio demographic characteristics related with internet access, which possibly conditioned their virtuality access and therefore the academic formation. The methodology applied for the achievement of the objectives was based on collecting the perceptions of the students and teachers, who had experience during the pandemic through surveys and interviews focusing the analysis of the sociodemographic characteristics, the competencies acquired, technical skills and technological strategies used. The analysis of the obtained data demonstrated that more than 50% of the students lived in urban areas and had access to a computer with an internet connection to attend classes during the pandemic. Additionally, opinions from experts in university teaching were collected regarding the competencies that students should acquire. These experts emphasized the importance of clinical history and pre-surgical assessment. Finally, the results highlight that students agree with the acquired competencies and skills, although digital strategies were not deemed sufficient. Likewise, conclusions and recommendations are presented, as the COVID-19 pandemic has had a clear impact on all aspects of life, including education, especially in surgical training. This training cannot be halted under any circumstances, emphasizing the need to maintain an active virtual education plan in all universities.
