Adicionar Tag | Resumo: | This research study exposes the role of citizen participation as an important tool to resolve the crisis of legitimacy of political power and improve social governance. Within its framework, the specific case of the "Las Lágrimas" neighborhood belonging to the Carigan parish of the Loja canton was studied. The neighborhood society faces a series of challenges that negatively affect the quality of life and limit its social well-being. Although there is a legal framework to promote citizen participation, in practice it is notably lacking. The objectives of this research include developing practical responses in local communities using citizen engagement tools, analyzing key challenges to be faced, providing training to strengthen local authorities, and creating an environment where neighborhood dwellers can influence public decisions. Using a mixed approach, this study combines quantitative and qualitative data to identify, describe and explore the problems that exist in the "Las Lágrimas" neighborhood, as well as the unique characteristics and opportunities, it was worked with 34 heads of families in the neighborhood between 18 and 64 years of age, to achieve this objective, it was started with an approach to the sector using the observation sheet, interview with the neighborhood directive and the total population of the neighborhood was surveyed, through these methods it was possible to obtain a more detailed understanding that allowed to know in greater depth the needs that affect the social well-being and quality of life of the residents, in this sense the deterioration of the main avenue of the neighborhood was identified as a central problem, that requires priority attention, supported by a weighting and validation matrix. Citizen participation aims to revive popular sovereignty and restore the legitimacy of government by empowering citizens to influence government policies and actions. This study is part of the project to link with society of the Public Administration career Participatory Neighborhood Solutions of the canton of Loja, it aims to train citizens to become agents of social change and collaborate to find solutions. |
