Las habilidades básicas de la vida diaria y su relación en la autoestima en niños con síndrome de down que asisten al instituto municipal de educación especial de SÍGSIG. Periodo - 2013

This research entitled: THE SKILLS OF DAILY LIVING AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO THE ESTEEM IN CHILDREN WITH DOWN SYNDROME ATTENDING THE MUNICIPAL INSTITUTE OF SPECIAL EDUCATION Sigsig . PERIOD - 2013 , it was developed according to the Academic Regulations of the National University of Loja. Its preparation raised the following general objective : Provide education authorities know the importance of exercising the basic skills for self-esteem in children with Down syndrome attending the Municipal Institute of Special Education Sígsig Period 2013. The methods used were : Scientist , Descriptive , Deductive - Inductive , Inductive, Analytical - Synthetic and Statistical . The instruments used were : questionnaire basic skills of daily living , which was implemented in order to determine the basic skills of daily living performed by children , and self-esteem test for children with disabilities , in order to assess self-esteem. The following results were obtained : In the table of basic skills of daily living could be determined that 64 % of children have difficulties in feeding and hygiene skills , 79% dress skills , 71% do not socialize , and 85 % had difficulties in skills outside the home. While self- test allowed us to determine that 50 % of children with Down syndrome have a poor self-esteem , 28% have a self- regulating and the remaining 22% have good self-esteem. Thus able to conclude that children with Down syndrome may not develop their skills of daily living skills related to clothing, food , social relationships and skills outside the home, they get insufficient levels affects their self-esteem , as self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-concept, confidence and appreciation which negatively affects their social and emotional development .
