总结: | Dementia involves a variety of illnesses, which affect memory, cognitive capacities and behavior, interfering daily activities. In Ecuador, there are no research studies about Alzheimer on children. This is why, the objectives of this research are: identify patients’ relatives in first degree of consanguinity with Alzheimer illness, determine the degree of cognitive impairment of relatives who are more than 50 years old, with the risk to develop it through two neuropsychological tests, and determine statistical relations between the results. The tests carried out had a quantitative longitudinal approach. 43 participants were assessed through the Addenbrooke´s Cognitive Examination test and a Brief Neuropsychological Evaluation in Spanish. On the first test, the age group from 50 to 65 years old, 20.9 % (n=9) got Low Cognitive Impairment (LCI), 16.3 % (n=7) Moderate Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and 2.3 % (n=1) Severe Cognitive Impairment (SCI). These results show that at an age close to 50 years, the possibility of presenting impairment decreases. In relation with the second test, 65.1% (n=28) was found normal, 14% (n=6) showed LCI, 16.3 (n=7) showed MCI, and 4.6 % (n=2) presented SCI. After considering the education level, it is shown that the higher the education level, the lower the risk to develop any degree of cognitive impairment. Concluding, approximately 40% of the participants presented some degree of cognitive impairment. Key words: Predisposition, Cognitive Impairment, Women, Life Expectancy |
