সংক্ষিপ্ত:This project of thesis called “CHARACTERIZATION OF GEOLOGICAL MATERIALS ABOUT THE BASE OF A GEOLOGICAL-GEOTHECNICAL STUDY IN A HOUSING DEVELOPMENT OF MUNICIPAL COMPANY OF LIVING PLACE, LOCATED IN THE MENFIS SECTOR OF CANTON AND PROVINCE OF LOJA-ECUADOR”, it is focused to describe properties of materials from geological, geotechnical and hydrological point of view. After that recopiling all basic information, it was proceed to release the detailed topographic survey of study area, the total study area is 69.33 ha and 14.00 ha are the housing development of municipal company of living place. The geological and geomorphological survey were described together, the geological formation in the study area are: Trigal formation, la Banda formation, Belen formation and Chiguinda metamorphic unit. The corresponding geomorphological units are medium hill relief (20,16%), medium structural relief (17,38%), down structural relief (17, 61%), little dissected surface (6,07) and coluvial deposits (8,18%). About the direct methods, the test pits allowed to describe texture, color, humidity and consistency, and the standard penetration test allowed to define the classification properties (SUCS), there got plastic clays (CH), sanding clays (CL), sandy soils (MH), sandy silts (ML), argillaceous sand (SC) silty sand (SM) and micro-conglomerates (GM). The bearing capacity, density, cohesion and internal friction angle were obtained by relating the Nspt values, which go from 5 strokes in the soft areas to 113 strokes in hard areas. The geophysical tests: vertical electric surveys could be able to obtain the range so values of apparent resistivity, these values go from 1,17 Ω.m to 38,78 Ω.m. the first value is claying sands with high humidity content (>40%) and the second value is plastic clays. the refraction seismic could able to find the longitudinal velocities with speed range between 142 m/s and 1782 m/s. in addition, dynamic and elastic parameters were calculated.
