| Sammanfattning: | The present research study titled "Cultural Tourism Development of the Museum of Contemporary Plastic Arts in Catamayo Canton, Loja Province" focuses on promoting the cultural identity of Catamayo Canton, especially in relation to the Afro-descendant community of the La Vega neighborhood. The Manuel Serrano Museum plays a crucial role by exhibiting ceremonial pieces that reflect the worldview, customs, and historical ideologies of Catamayo. Thus, two specific objectives are proposed: the first is to understand the current situation of the Manuel Serrano Museum of Contemporary Plastic Arts in Catamayo Canton, and the second is to propose a tourism management model for the Manuel Serrano Museum of Contemporary Plastic Arts in Catamayo Canton, Loja Province. The museum also houses pieces of modern art and works by master Manuel Serrano, who donated his collection to the locality for educational and didactic purposes. A qualitative, descriptive, experimental, and explanatory research methodology was used. The technique of interviewing museum administrators and surveys applied to museum visitors and residents in Catamayo revealed the cultural importance of the Manuel Serrano Museum in the San José parish and how the responsible parties commit to disseminating their knowledge and what their contributions would be for the future implementation of the project. Additionally, surveys were conducted with employees of the Municipal Autonomous Government (GAD) of Catamayo in the tourism department and visitors to Catamayo Canton, revealing that most respondents were unaware of the museum's existence. It was found that residents are interested in discovering and participating in activities organized at the museum. However, a lack of interest from the Autonomous Decentralized Government (GAD) of Catamayo towards local cultural and artistic resources was also identified. Based on the positive results of this research, a SWOT matrix and a cross SWOT analysis were developed. These tools were fundamental in designing a tourism management model for the Manuel Serrano Museum of Contemporary Plastic Arts in Catamayo, Loja Province. The model includes main strategies designed to meet the proposed objectives and improve the overall management of the museum. |
