| Izvleček: | The current research focuses on citizen participation as a key tool to address the crisis of legitimacy of political power and improve governance. It is applied to the "Pordel" neighborhood of the parish of Chuquiribamba, which faces problems that affect the quality of life of its inhabitants and limit their social well-being. Low citizen participation and a lack of commitment from the population and the local government entity were observed. The objectives of the research include contributing to the construction of effective solutions through citizen participation, diagnosing the main problems, providing training to empower local leadership and generating spaces for participation vis-à-vis the authorities. A mixed approach was adopted, combining quantitative and qualitative information to identify, describe and analyse the problems and potential of the neighbourhood. To do so, observation sheets, interviews with the directors and surveys of the population were used. These tools made it possible to identify the main problems that affect social well-being, such as the lack of lighting in public spaces, the absence of sewage systems and the lack of parks and green areas. Citizen participation seeks to give a new meaning to popular sovereignty and to re- establish the legitimacy of power, allowing citizens to influence government policies and actions. This research is aligned with the project of the Public Administration career "Participatory Neighborhood Solutions", whose objective is to train residents to be social actors in the search for effective solutions for their community. |
