Gaia:The main objective of this titling project is to design and build a prototype vertical wind turbine type "Darrieus-H" using the wind resource in the laboratory building of the FEIRNNR. This type of vertical turbine is selected because of its main advantages; Low maintenance cost, no need for orientation, low wind speed operation among others. Throughout this document the methodology is contextualized, aimed at mentioning the theoretical and physical aspects that govern the operation of these machines; Detailed technical description, necessary parameters for the design, construction and implementation of the same, among others. The most important aspect is the design and machining of NACA 0015 profiles, using Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Assisted Manufacturing (CAM) and Computer Numerical Control (CNC), making use of The Solidworks and ArtCAM Software for the design and obtaining of codes, the manufacturing is done by the Travis-M6-Fagor milling machine owned by the National University of Loja. Using a Prony brake, the characteristic curves of the prototype are established. From the tests performed, it is possible to define the general behavior of the turbine by the drawing of operational curves. For details on the design, the respective planes of the elements that make up the same are presented.
