Summary:Oral pathologies are a relevant problem in our country, they represent an important rate in South Region, therefore Loja canton is not exempt of this reality, as much on its rural as on its urban wards. This investigation aims to do the diagnosis of oral health and risk factors in “Abdon Calderon” primary school and “Corazon de Maria” fiscomisional education center, from “El Cisne” rural ward, Loja canton, 2013. The objectives for this project were to identify the risk factors, and to determine the prevalence of oral pathologies present in children of the chosen primary education centers. This project is descriptive, prospective and transversal. The investigation techniques were observation and interview; and the instruments for data recollection consisted of Dental Clinic History, surveys and credentials; the investigation was developed with 171 primary school students. In El Cisne rural ward from Loja canton, children from the selected education centers, presented 77.97% of dental caries bad occlusion type I without dental crowding. The most common habit was digital suction with a 1.19% and among the most incident occlusal pathologies are: deep bite with 2.38% and posterior crossed bite with 1.19%, finally 98.21% presented fluorosis absence. With the gathered results, it can be concluded that conform the age of patients increase, they present a bigger number of oral pathologies, which means a deficit of preventive oral health, therefore it is necessary to make a better job in education centers and families in order to promote the importance of having a correct oral care.
