The present work was carried out because we do not currently have studies that indicate the current situation of our city, the objective of this research was to find out what are the factors associated with the consumption of energy drinks, to determine the frequency of consumption. In which a descriptive, analytical and prospective cross-sectional quantitative approach study was used, carried out during the months of October 2018 to March of the year 2019. A survey-type data collection form was applied, 171 students participated, of them 74.26% consume them and 23% do not.Their consumption is related to academic activities, so 27.6% consume to decrease sleep hours, 25.2% to improve concentration, and only 3.9% consume them for physical activity, their Consumption is notable in both men and women with 83.33% - 70.80% respectively. The frequency of consumption is 1 to 3 drinks per week. The preferred energy drinks are Red Bull and V220 and the most popular combination is V220 + caffeine. Keywords: energy drinks, psychostimulants, caffeine, consumption.En el Ecuador existen pocos estudios acerca del consumo de bebidas energizantes en estudiantes de la carrera de Psicología Clínica, su importancia indica que estos requieren permanecer más tiempo despiertos, concentrados y con la suficiente energía para desempeñar sus labores académicas. Se desarrolló el presente trabajo en razón de que no contamos actualmente con estudios que nos indiquen la situación actual de nuestra ciudad, el objetivo de esta investigación fue conocer cuáles son los factores asociados al consumo de bebidas energizantes, determinar la frecuencia de consumo. En el que se empleó un estudio de enfoque cuantitativo de nivel descriptivo, analítico y prospectivo, de corte transversal, ejecutado durante los meses de octubre 2018 a marzo del año 2019. Se aplicó un formulario de recolección de datos tipo encuesta, participaron 171 estudiantes, de ellos un 74,26% las consume y un 23 % no lo hacen. Su consumo se relaciona con actividades de ámbito académico, es así que un 27.6% consume para disminuir las horas de sueño, 25,2% para mejorar la concentración, y tan solo con un 3,9% las consumen para realizar actividad física, su consumo es notable tanto en hombres como en mujeres con un 83,33% - 70,80% respectivamente. La frecuencia de consumo es de 1 a 3 bebidas por semana. Las bebidas energizantes de preferencia son Red Bull y V220 y la combinación que más se realiza es V220+ cafeína.
