Résumé:This research titled: Using active techniques to improve academic performance in the area of natural sciences, children of fifth grade of elementary and middle sublevel of the municipal education unit Catamayo Canton province of Loja, school year 2013-2014, has the general objective: To determine the influence of the use of Active Learning Techniques Student Achievement the area of Natural Sciences of children of fifth grade of elementary and middle sublevel Catamayo municipal educational unit, the canton Catamayo province of Loja. This research has a quantitative approach - qualitative, bibliographic and field modality of exploratory, descriptive and correlational. Synthetic adjuvant, supported by the statistical model, this technique observation and implementation of surveys for teachers and students and a pre-test and post-test were used that were - deductive, analytical - The scientific inductive method was used applied to children and thus have timely information for the development of research. In the research work a sample of 36 children for the fifth grade Catamayo Municipal Education Unit and teacher who teaches the subject of natural science in that establishment, after processing the information obtained as a result took unused active techniques by the teacher to teach the science classes so not a good academic performance is achieved in children is why it is recommended to use different types of active techniques, such as: Brainstorming, collage, drawings cognitive, group work, discussion, direct observation, among others, with appropriate theoretical and methodological foundation selected and ordered that help overcome the academic performance with children from fifth grade of General Basic Education.
