For which it he has considered to determine the values of Free PSA and Total PSA in 40-year-old major males; To know the factors of risk associated with the increase of Prostate Specific Antigen; To relate the levels of Free PSA and Total PSA to the factors of risk associated with the increase of PSA's levels considering as factors of risk: age, family history, smoking, alcohol consumption, urinary tract infection, sexual activity, venereal disease, and work with agrochemicals; The present study is of descriptive type of transverse court(cut); The sample was 60 farmers, which was discussed at the facilities of the Clinical Laboratory of the Hospital Regional Isidro Ayora. The results obtained were the following: that of the 100% (n= 60) of the study population (23 %) had elevated PSA levels above (4ng/ml); Between the factors of risk associated with the most common increase of the PSA they are: consumption of alcohol 78 %, work with agrochemical 88 %, the cigarette 53 % and the infections of urinary tract with 25 %, with regard to the levels of high PSA and his your relation with the factors, 14 persons who are 23 % work with agrochemical and take alcohol, 8 persons that it he corresponds to 13 % smoke tobacco. Concluding so the PSA is a scoreboard with great diagnostic value for the early detection of prostate pathologies. Key words: Prostate Specific Antigen, Factors of risk |
