| Résumé: | This curricular integration work is entitled "Autism spectrum disorder and cognitive development. Proposal for intervention in 7th year students of the Nuestra Señora del Rosario Educational Unit, Catamayo canton, academic period 2023-2024.". Its aim is to analyse the cognitive development in 7th year students with Autism Spectrum Disorders of the Unidad Educativa Nuestra Señora del Rosario in the Catamayo canton. In this context, a non- experimental research was executed alongside a qualitative approach, and the use of scientific, inductive, analytical, synthetic and descriptive methods. For the collection of information it was employed a structured interview, which consists of five open questions addressed to teachers of the seventh year of primary school, also an observation sheet was developed in order to comply with the objectives set, which comprise five items that were applied to the seventh year teachers of the of the morning section of the Unidad Educativa Nuestra Señora del Rosario. The results obtained are based on the triangulation of the information collected, revealing the theoretical foundation of autism spectrum disorder, and establishing that it is not a disability but a generalized disorder that is characterized by alterations in three major areas: social interaction, communication and behavioural flexibility. In addition, it emphasized the importance of the development of cognitive processes in students with ASD. After these results, an intervention guide based on the TEACCH method was designed, which is structured by 5 activities aimed at stimulating the cognitive processes of the students, converting it into a learning and teachers’ help resource, thus facilitating the teacher’s work in the preparation and orientation of the tasks for learning in children with ASD. Finally, the respective conclusions and recommendations for future orientations were raised. |
