However, cherimoya is considered a secondary and minor crop for most producers, which is why they do not provide agronomic care, dominating the collection in natural forests or trees from family gardens; there is no intensification of cultivation due mainly to lack of knowledge about its management and the potential varieties that may exist in the area. This research aimed to identify the varieties of cherimoya (Annona cherimola Mill.) with productive potential in populations of the canton of Paltas, Province of Loja. A total of 20 individuals were characterized and distributed within three locations, using the Biodiversity International and CHERLA descriptor and parameters to measure organoleptic characteristics. For statistics analysis, different proceedings of multivariate analysis were used. The results show that, according to the quantitative and qualitative characteristics at the individual and fruit level, the individuals evaluated in the Paltas canton are classified into four groups, where the PTA 02 and PTA 07 individuals stand out, both belonging to the Lisa variety; regarding the organoleptic variables, considering quality parameters and fruit marketing. The individuals PTA 06 and PTA 11 stood out, belonging to the Impresa and Mamillata varieties, respectively. The individuals highlighted above, PTA 02, PTA 07, PTA 06, and PTA 1 are from Tunaspamba town in the Paltas canton. It ́s concluded that there are cherimoya potential varieties in Paltas canton with traits for the production of the crop. |

Es nativa de Ecuador, donde destaca una alta diversidad que se concentra principalmente en la Provincia de Loja. Sin embargo, la chirimoya es considerado un cultivo secundario y menor para la mayoría de los productores ellos, por lo cual, no prestan cuidados agronómicos, dominando la colecta en bosques naturales o en plantas de huertos familiares; no hay intensificación del cultivo debido principalmente al desconocimiento sobre su manejo y de las variedades potenciales que pueden existir en la zona. A partir de ello, el objetivo de la presente investigación fue identificar variedades de chirimoya (Annona cherimola Mill.) con potencial productivo en poblaciones del cantón Paltas, provincia de Loja. Para ello, se caracterizaron un total de 20 individuos, distribuidos dentro de 3 localidades, utilizando el descriptor Biodiversity International y CHERLA y parámetros para medir características organolépticas. Para el análisis de datos, se utilizaron distintos procedimientos de análisis multivariado, acorde al tipo de datos, ya sea de carácter cualitativo o cuantitativo. Los resultados indican que, acorde a las características cuantitativas y cualitativas a nivel de individuo y fruto, los individuos evaluados en el cantón Paltas se clasifican en 4 grupos, donde destacan los individuos PTA 02 y PTA 07, ambos pertenecientes a la variedad Lisa. Con respectos a las variables organolépticas, considerando parámetros de calidad y comercialización de frutos, sobresalieron los individuos PTA 06 y PTA 11, pertenecientes a la variedad Impresa y Mamillata, respectivamente. Los individuos destacados anteriormente, PTA 02, PTA 07, PTA 06 y PTA 1, son de la localidad de Tunaspamba del cantón Paltas.
