Description
Summary:The main goal of this investigation was to determine the effectiveness of the reversion with sugammadex of the neuromuscular block produced by rocuronium in pediatric patients. To reach this goal, a descriptive, observational and experimental investigation was made, this investigation included 35 pediatric patients who underwent procedures that required neuromuscular block with rocuronium and that after the procedure, required a block reversion with sugammadex, determining this reversion need, trough the percentage in the; children were divided in to groups: A group (82, 86 %) which included patients with a TOF ( (train of four) perecentage between 0 to 29 % and B group (17, 14 %) which included patients with a TOF percentage between 30 to 90 %. In A group, in 77,14 %, the average time to obtain a 90 % or more was between 15-120 seconds (average 67,5 seconds) with just one dose of sugammadex, while 5,71 % of the patients needed an extra dose of sugammadex obtaining a 90% or more between 150-240 seconds( average 195 seconds), 30-110 seconds after extra dose. In B group, average time was 30-105 seconds (average 67, 5 seconds); there were no patients who needed new doses of sugammadex. There were no cases with residual block after reversion with sugammadex or adverse effects during the first 24 hours after the reversion with sugammadex.
