Resumo:This research is titled: "The use of the teaching skills of teachers of the Department of Language and Literature and its impact on the academic performance of students of the National College San Pedro de Vilcabamba Parish San Pedro de Vilcabamba, Canton and Province Loja, during the 2012-2013 school year”. To develop this research the following general objective was raised: to determine to what extent affects the use of the teaching faculty of language and literature in the academic performance of students surveyed. The research is descriptive in nature, were used among others inductive-deductive, analytic-synthetic, descriptive methods and the hypothetical -deductive; and survey techniques, bibliographic, documentary and statistics were also used; the instrument that was used was the questionnaire used it to structure surveys. In the research process involved two teachers and 70 students who make up the universe or population. They settled as conclusions: The techniques used by teachers are explanatory nature, processes corresponding to traditionalism and other college students investigated have a regular rhythm of study although not constant, which influences their academic performance, showing the average general arithmetic mean, a rating of 8.01.
