Summary:This research entitled: SELF-ESTEEM AND ITS INFLUENCE ON THE ACQUISITION OF SOCIAL SKILLS FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES ATTENDING THE INTERNAL VISUAL INSTITUTE OF BYRON EGUIGUREN Loja. PERIOD 2014-2015; As general objective was: To determine the influence of self-esteem in the acquisition of social skills in children with visual impairment attending the Institute Eguiguren Byron Loja. Methods used in the Investigation Were: Scientist, Analytical - synthetic, inductive - deductive and statistical That allowed for discussion and contrasting proposals variables. The test Coopersmith Self-Esteem Questionnaire Evaluation of Social Skills Intended for Students investigated in particular the: Two instruments were applied. He worked with a sample of 9 Children with Visual Impairment Byron internal Eguiguren Institute. After analyzing the results it is concluded that the majority of children have a low level of self-esteem; and that the main difficulties that occur in social skills. Finally, it is recommended to the Authorities and teachers organize workshops, courses and seminars for teachers on how to stimulate self-esteem and for people with visual disabilities.
