Summary:The current research is a descriptive study, which main objective is to analyze the coping strategies and to evaluate the emotional state of the patients in chemotherapy treatment offered by Solca and was designed an educative guide about Coping Techniques in Breast Cancer in order to guide patients and relatives. The universe consisted of 170 patients treated in the Ambulatory Chemotherapy Area for different types of cancer, of which were selected 20 patients diagnosed with breast cancer. For the data collection was applied The Coping Strategies Inventory from Cano and García (2007). The obtained results indicate that the strategies most used by the patients are: the cognitive restructuring 100%; the social support 95%; and the emotional expression 90%; while other strategies are very little used, so: the problems avoidance and the social withdrawal. About the emotional state is evidenced that the patients with breast cancer develop emotions like: depression (40%); anxiety (30%); and anger (15%). Although the experience of the disease is different for each person who suffers this disease, it was discovered positive relations between certain used strategies and the emotional state; hence the importance of this research, considering the cancer impact in the life of the people.
