Opis
Sažetak:The Beneficiation plant of the Areniscas Mining Company, code "230" is located in San Carlos de las Minas parish, Nambija neighborhood, Zamora Chinchipe Province. The recovery process used in the plant is the gravimetric method. The material processed in the plant is a skarn-type mineral deposit that contains gold mineralization and secondary minerals such as calcium and manganese carbonates; the deposit is located within the Triassic Piuntza formation, which consists of andesitic volcanic rocks, calcareous epiclastic volcanic sediments and skarn. The current recovery process at the plant is not the most efficient because there is an approximate recovery of 65% of the mineral of interest, which is gold; therefore, a significant percentage of the gold is lost in the tailings. This research aims to conduct a study and analysis of the tailings and determine a suitable method for gold recovery, to achieve this, objectives were set to analyze the physical properties of the tailings material such as specific weight, moisture content, granulometry; chemical properties such as pH, conductivity, fire test to determine the gold grade existing in the tailings material. Addittionally, mineralogical analysis were performed to identify the elements and minerals present through x-ray fluorescence and x-ray diffraction tests. Based on the collected from the characterization of the tailings, an effective method for the beneficiation process was proposed. From the analyses, the type of minerals existing in the tailings, chemical composition and gold content were identified. Considering the mineral such as oxides and low gold grades, it was deemed pertinent to carry out the leaching process by mechanical agitation (cyanidation).
