Shrnutí:ABSTRACT The consumption of alcohol and cognitive deficit is a phenomenon that has had minor studies in inmates who are in rehabilitation for drug use. The present research has as main objective: analyze the relationship between alcohol consumption and cognitive deficit in patients admitted to the “Juan Pablo II” Foundation, period 2019. It was conducted a descriptive-correlational research, with a quantitative qualitative approach in a non-probabilistic, with a sample of 21 people with an average age of 49.24 years. For the collection of data, it was used: an informed consent, survey, the Identification of disorders due to alcohol consumption (AUDIT) and brief NEUROPSI questionnaire. After a statistical analysis through the program (SPSS), as a result, it was obtained that the majority of the population evaluated consume weekly an average of 6 or more alcoholic beverages, with an average consumption time of 31.19 years; furthermore, the data obtained from the brief Neuropsi, specifically the cognitive areas with the greatest involvement is attention-concentration and memory, while in the evaluation of the Neuropsi globally it indicates that there is no direct relationship between the time of alcohol consumption and cognitive deficits. This shows that the consumption time would not be the only variable to be considered as a predisposing factor to suffer an equivalent cognitive impairment.
