Achoimre:Acute respiratory infections (ARI) are the main reason for pediatric consultation, representing about 50% of the causes of assistance to health services, they involved several determinants such as socioeconomic, biological, cultural, nutritional, environmental. Because these so frequent in the pediatric population entities it’s timely and appropriate therapeutic management is necessary. In this regard, there are many plans, schemes and therapeutic protocols reason, this descriptive, retrospective was held with the general objective of this research was to: determine the therapeutic management of acute respiratory infections in children under five treated in emergency service of pediatrics at Huaquillas Basic Hospital during the period May-November 2015, as well as knowing the respiratory symptoms for which are consulted; identify the types of acute respiratory infections in the patients studied and define the implementation of management plans pneumonia according to its complexity, the medical records of 90 children who formed the study sample were reviewed. The results showed that: respiratory infections viral etiologies, antihistamines, antiinflammatory, and hydration were used and, according to the pathological entity with oxygen, dilators and corticosteroids. In bacterial processes they were used aminopenicillins, macrolides and antiinflammatory. The main signs and symptoms of ARI in this study was constituted fever, cough and runny nose. ARI most frequently found were for nasopharyngitis, pharyngitis, pneumonia and acute otitis media. Pneumonia and respiratory infections of the lower airways, was treated according to their severity being the most used in Plan B (ambulatory antibiotics).
