| Tóm tắt: | This research aims to determine the relationship between diabetes mellitus type I and II and depression. It attempts to know patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus type I and II and knowing if they are insulin dependent in the external consultation department of the Hospital Manuel Ygnacio Monteros "IESS"; to identify patients with diabetes mellitus who have depression; to know the average age, gender, marital status of diabetic patients and diabetic patients diagnosed with depression; to specify whether the rate of depression is higher in patients with diabetes mellitus complicated and uncomplicated; to develop a plan of psychotherapeutic intervention for patients with diabetes mellitus; the analytic-synthetic, statistical-descriptive and retrospective method was used in the investigation; according to the data collected the following information was obtained: the highest percentage of patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus is seen in the months of March and April, and also a high prevalence was noticed in non-insulin dependent ones; also patients with diabetes mellitus who have depression have a high percentage regarding patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus and patients with diabetes mellitus and depression; several variables were studied, among them gender in patients with diabetes mellitus had a high percentage of the female gender result, and patients with diabetes mellitus and depression had a high percentage of the male gender; in terms of the the average age, both resulted in the age range 61-70 years and in regard to marital status the highest percentage in both was the married marital status, finding agreement on them. Finally the percentage of depression is higher in patients with diabetes mellitus complicated. Key words: Diabetes Mellitus, depression |
