| Zusammenfassung: | Nursing professionals realize their work in both in-hospital and out-of-hospital areas, or also called community activities where they carry out assistance actions, management, education and research, their main priority is the integral care of the person, also involving the family and community. It was established a descriptive and cross-sectional research with a quantitative approach about the perception of practice professional nursing in Teófilo Dávila Hospital in Machala, its objective was to determine the perception of nursing professionals about their professional practice related to indicators of the perception such as: nature of nursing, scientific basis, autonomy, leadership, ethics, professional identity and vocation. The instrument used for data collection was the modified Likert scale, the data which was obtained showed that the majority of professionals have a moderately favorable perception, standing out the female sex with 13.3%, the same ones that have been practicing the profession from 21 until 30 years old, which means that Nursing still faces the lack of recognition, inequality, low self-esteem, work overload, the need for continuous training and the performance of their professional activity, therefore it is reflected in the little recognition that Nursing perceives of the rest of the health team, and the little perception that it has in relation to its professional prestige.
