| description | Psychomotor development plays a primary role in the life of the infant, is for that reason that the attention during the early years of life, from the gestation, birth until the growth constitutes today per today, one of the priorities with the greatest impact for the complete and harmonious development of the human being. The objective of this work of investigation is to determine the influence of the feeding for infants and of the little boy from 0 to 36 months and its influence on the psychomotor development in the CNH of the Carigan neighborhood of the canton Loja in the year 2016. The investigation was of a quantitative type of cross-section; which universe of study was comprised by 115 children; for collection of the information, surveys were carried out to mothers or caregivers and the psychomotor development was evaluated by applying the Denver II test. Obtaining the following results: that two-thirds of the children had (77%) an early onset of lactation maternal; the 70% received exclusive maternal lactation. The 63% received continuous maternal lactation. In relation to the opportune complementary feeding 97.2% nearly the entirety of the population received it; besides the 77% received the four minimum food groups. Keywords: food practices, Psychomotor Development, Children from 0 to 36 months.El desarrollo psicomotor juega un papel primordial en la vida del lactante, es por ello que la atención en los primeros años de vida, desde la gestación, nacimiento hasta el crecimiento constituye hoy por hoy, una de las prioridades de más alto impacto para el desarrollo pleno y armonioso del ser humano. El objetivo de este trabajo de investigación es determinar la influencia de la alimentación del lactante y del niño pequeño de 0 a 36 meses y su influencia en el desarrollo psicomotor en el CNH del barrio Carigan del cantón Loja en el año 2016. La investigación fué de tipo cuantitativo de corte transversal; cuyo universo estuvo conformado por 115 niños; para la recolección de la información, se realizó encuestas a las madres o cuidadores y se evaluó el desarrollo psicomotriz aplicando el test de Denver II. Obteniéndose como resultados: que las dos terceras partes de los niños (77 %) tuvieron un inicio temprano de lactancia materna; el 70% recibieron lactancia materna exclusiva. El 63% recibieron lactancia materna continúa. En relación a la alimentación complementaria oportuna la recibió el 97.2 % de los niños/as casi en la totalidad de la población; además el 77 % recibió los cuatro grupos alimentarios mínimos.
