| Summary: | The present researching work is focused on study techniques and the teaching-learning process. The problem focused on appreciating how study techniques affect the learning difficulties presented by students in the subject of Social Science, therefore it was raised as a general objective: To contribute with the improvement of learning in the subject of Social Science of the students of Sixth Grade Parallel "A", of the Basic School General Education "Miguel Riofrío" of Loja city, the specific objectives were: To identify the study techniques that contribute to the improvement of learning, to determine the learning difficulties that students present, to develop a proposal that helps to improve learning levels. Certainly, the approach of the present work was qualitative, for this reason, some reasons and aspects related to the subject and problem to be investigated were explained. In the same way, through a quantitative approach, it allowed investigating the use of numerical data to be able to systematize, organize and structure them in the researching work, the same one that was framed in a purely social aspect and being within the theoretical - descriptive investigation, the importance of study techniques was specified. The methods applied were: scientific, analytical, logical, synthetic, statistical and hermeneutical. Some techniques such as direct observation and the survey were also applied, the same ones that allowed collecting information and expressing the link through practice between knowledge, the phenomenon to be investigated and the methods. Regarding to the data collection, different means were used that helped to obtain valuable information on the research topic. Definitely, the study techniques (mental maps, conceptual maps, the summary, key scheme, idea tree, and class presentation), served for the student become an autonomous person, capable of organizing and searching for information.
