That is why this research was proposed with the general objective: To determine the functional capacity to develop basic and instrumental activities and associated chronic diseases in the elderly of the "Daniel Álvarez Sánchez" Home and the following specific objectives: to identify the functional capacity of older adults in relation to the basic activities of daily life in relation to sex and age groups, to establish the functional capacity in instrumental activities of daily life in older adults according to sex and age groups, to relate the functional capacity in basic and instrumental activities of daily life with existing chronic non-communicable diseases in older adults, was a descriptive, cross-sectional and prospective study with a quantitative approach in which 55 people participated, residents over 65 years of age with chronic illnesses who belong to the “Daniel Álvarez Sánchez” Home for the Elderly. Meeting the inclusion criteria, the results conclude that in daily activities, male sex ulino, the age between 65 to 79 years 90% require assistance, in instrumental activities, the same sex and the same age range have a level of light dependency unlike the female sex with 20%, with respect to the disease chronic, Parkinson's is one of the prevalent diseases in the population studied 18.75%. Therefore, it is concluded that the majority of older adults between the age range of 65 to 79 years of male sex require assistance, they also have slight dependency unlike the female sex and Parkinson's has greater deterioration in basic activities of daily life and instruments
