The present descriptive investigation of cross-section, serum progesterone levels in women who present threat of abortion and / or spontaneous abortion during the first and second trimester of pregnancy and attend the Isidro Ayora General Hospital in Loja, had as objective to determine the serum progesterone levels in the selected population. To know the gestational week in which the patients present a threat of abortion and / or spontaneous abortion. To identify the risky factors to which the selected population is exposed. To relate the levels Serum progesterone with the risky factors and the gestational week. To spread the results to medical specialists. The study was conformed by 51 patients with gynecological diagnosis of threat of abortion and / or spontaneous abortion from whom 25% had progesterone levels below 1.7 ng / ml. The determination was made by the electrochemiluminescence method. The gestational week in which 63% of threat of abortion and / or spontaneous abortion cases correspond to the first trimester of pregnancy.
