Yhteenveto:Public health policies must address hypertension because it is an important factor in the burden of morbidity; so that, it is not only a problem that affects the nursing profession, since achieving adherence to treatment means improving the health and quality of life of patients. Therefore, the objective of this research is to describe the Adherence to Pharmacological Treatment in Hypertensive Patients of the Health Center No. 1 of Loja, this research was carried out under a quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional approach; the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale 8 Item was used. The analyzed sample consisted of 90 hypertensive patients, who were chosen following the inclusion criterion of not having disability to respond to the survey and voluntarily participate in this investigation; as a criterion of exclusion to people that was not located during October 2017 to January 2018 for the application of the instrument. In the results it is highlighted that 57.78% are adhering to their treatment, most of them are female, ranging in ages from 40 to 64 years old, with secondary education, married marital status and with a monotherapy therapeutic scheme concluding that adherence to pharmacological treatment in hypertensive patients depends on the consent and behavior of a patient in the follow-up of his or her treatment. Nevertheless; an active collaboration between the health professional and the patient in the decision-making that affect their own health is of the utmost importance.
