Резюме:Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) represent a significant public health issue predominantly affecting adolescents. It is crucial that individuals acquire comprehensive knowledge about these conditions from an early age and sustain appropriate sexual behaviours throughout their lives, remaining aware of the risk of infection associated with unsafe sexual practices. This research aimed to assess the level of knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS among adolescents, categorized by age and sex, and to explore the relationship between knowledge levels and sexual practices and attitudes in adolescents at the Saraguro Educational Unit from April 2022 to March 2023. The study employed a quantitative, cross-sectional cohort approach, surveying a sample of 197 adolescents using the "Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices for the Prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections" questionnaire. The findings indicated that 62.44% (n=123) of the adolescents possessed a medium level of knowledge about STDs. Among these, 70.73% (n=87) exhibited favourable sexual attitudes, while 29.27% (n=36) demonstrated unfavourable sexual attitudes. A statistically significant association was observed between the variables (p=0.003). Additionally, of those with a medium level of knowledge, 68.29% (n=84) reported engaging in low-risk sexual practices, whereas 31.70% (n=39) reported high-risk sexual practices, with a statistically significant correlation between these variables (p=0.002). In conclusion, both male and female adolescents predominantly exhibited a medium level of knowledge about sexually transmitted diseases, with the majority aged between 17 and 19 years. These findings underscore the importance of enhancing educational programs and interventions targeted at improving adolescents' understanding of STDs and promoting safer sexual behaviours
