| Crynodeb: | It has been determined that population with the least health care are adolescents, It is important to observe that it is a group of people which are exposed to greater risks in their self-care referring to various aspects, it is because they are influenced by the media, and the social group where they belong, all these aspects can lead adolescents to adopt practices or healthy lifestyles that don’t promote their self-care, that is the reason why it has been proposed as an objective in this research work to identify the level of self-care in students of Unidad “Pio Jaramillo Alvarado" Loja 2016-2017; A qualitative study was carried out, there was a population of 120 students who studied from eighth to tenth grade in the evening section, the results obtained showed that 50% of students know the concept of self-care, 90% of students have a high level of self-care within their social and psychological aspects while 50% of the population in this research has a low level of self-care in the physical aspect. In conclusion, adolescents have a concept about self-care, However, it is not reflected in the practice of self-care in the physical aspect which put their health status at risk, a relative majority of adolescents perform adequate self-care practices in terms of its social and psychological aspect.
