| Summary: | This research will take place in the basin of the “Malacatos” river , inside it we can find the watersheds that belong to "The Amanda, Monica and Santa Urcu" creeks this place is located in the province of Loja, in Loja canton. The place where the study was made limits to the North and South with Loja canton, to the East with the Zamora-Chinchipe province and to the West with Catamayo canton. Geographically the study area is located among the coordinates UTM WGS 84, n: 9'545000 and 9´553000 m, S: 697000 and 705000 m, in the South 17. Three specific objectives have been proposed: 1) To make the geomorphological characterization of the basin of the rio Malacatos, and watersheds of Amanda, Monica and Santa Urcu, creeks which purpose is to determine the conditions of natural regulation of them. 2)To determine the runoffs expressed as monthly flows for each Micro-watershed and its distribution in time or the hydrological year. 3) To analyze the monthly maximum and minimum critical flow, and its periods of hapenning for assessing critical trends. 4) To determine the maximum flow rates of the Malacatos river to 2160 level flood and of the three watersheds to the output level of the same ones (2200). The basic information required to carry out the research was: statistics of rainfall data from the nearest stations to the area of study, up-to-date cartographic information and a digital terrain model (DTM) for the use of GIS (geographic information system), allowing to make a subsequent morphometric study to this area and then to make interpretations about watersheds and to estimate rainfall and runoff produced in them. |
