סיכום:The present research, entitled "The petroglyphs of Canton Paltas, Loja-Ecuador, as a reference for a contemporary artistic proposal", proposes an experimental artistic alternative that reinterprets the petroglyphs of the Palta culture, through a contemporary art proposal such as installation and painting in the expanded field. Through a process of artistic research, the methods used were: bibliographic, deductive, inductive, iconographic and ethnographic, which helped to base and theoretically support the research, supported by technological tools and design software, with the purpose of creating an experimental artistic work in which different materials and techniques are combined. This has as artistic references two internationally renowned artists, Ai Weiwei and Fabián Marcaccio, who work with artistic installation as well as painting in the expanded field, using different materials that they adapt in their paintings to create monumental works that reflect the problems of society. Likewise, the reinterpretation of petroglyphs through contemporary art highlights the relevance of technology as a creative tool in the field of art, allowing to explore new forms of representation and artistic expression, generating an intercultural dialogue between past and present, enriching the contemporary art scene with new perspectives and approaches. Keywords: Iconography, iconology, contemporary art, expanded art, petroglyphs, Palta culture. .
