| Summary: | The present investigation was developed with the purpose of knowing if the use of the information and communication technologies called with the acronym TIC, influence the academic performance of the students, for this purpose it was proposed as a general objective: To determine the use of the TIC and its relation in the academic performance of the tenth year students of Basic General Education (EGB) in unit 2: linear functions, in the subject of mathematics. The methodology used for the research work contemplated the application of the proposed surveys for the students and the teacher, in addition to the observation form; techniques that served to achieve the objectives. Also, based on the results obtained, it could be concluded that, when using TIC, student achievement does not improve, because the computer classroom does not have the appropriate instruments to teach, in addition to misuse of these instruments by students generates distraction and disinterest. It was possible to propose an alternative guideline, which presents educational software that can be applied in mathematics, providing an easier explanation on the part of the teacher and the understanding of the subjects by the students, in order to improve academic performance. This concludes that the use of TICs does not guarantee a favorable growth in the academic performance of students in this unit. |
