| Sažetak: | Labor stress (Burnout Syndrome) is an increasingly frequent problem for health professionals who have an impact on their performance, quality and safety care to patients. The objective of this investigation is to determine the prevalence of occupational stress in doctor from critical areas at Isidro Ayora Hospital. In methodology a cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out, the population was constituted by 67 doctors who work in the critical areas of the Isidro Ayora Hospital, the sample belongs to the studied universe, with a prior informed consent. The technique used was a survey, previously validated and the data collection instrument was the Maslach Test. With the results we could determine the prevalence from labor stress in doctors from Critical Areas was a 42,19%. Significant differences were obtained in function to the gender, age group, having kids, seniority in the institution and their functions. With the following investigation we can conclude that labor stress is frequent with a (42,19%) in doctors that work in a Critical Area, the doctors that suffer from stress showed the following characteristics; females, having between 31 and 40 years of age, being married, having kids and work in neonatology. Their main risk factors: working for more than 40 hours per week, fulfilling night shifts, having less than 2 years at the institution and being residents.
