Summary:Genital prolapse affects many women since its pathogenesis is related to events that occur throughout their reproductive lives. The present study provides information about the prevalence of genital prolapse in patients who undergo cervical cytology - smear in the area of regional hospital pathology "Isidro Ayora" Loja period January to December 2009. This is a descriptive, cross-sectional, observational and retrospective. Of the 150 patients with altered pelvic statics, the age group most cases was between 41 to 50 years 29%. The type of genital prolapse was the most frequent histerocele 77%. The main degree of prolapse grade II was 71%. 77% and 64% were parous and high multiparous patients respectively. The genital prolapse grade II was identified in 56% multiparous patients, grade III in 48% multiparous patients and large multiparous 48%, grade IV in 75% multiparous patients great. The symptoms that occurred most frequently are other symptoms including vaginal discharge are (33), dyspareunia (3), vaginal bleeding which stains the Interior (4) which together account for 27%. It was concluded that alterations of pelvic statics is a condition that occurs after the fourth decade of life and its incidence increases with age and is related to the parity of women.
