Etiología de la anemia neonatal en el Hospital Regional Isidro Ayora durante el periodo marzo - diciembre del 2016.

Anemia is a global problem that has important consequences for health, as well as social and economic. It occurs in all ages, being more frequent in children and pregnant women. In Ecuador it is estimated that 70% of children under one year of age suffer from it. Neonatal anemia is considered in newborns with values lower than 15 g / dL of hemoglobin or central hematocrit less than 45%. The objective of this study is to identify the most frequent etiology of neonatal anemia in the Regional Hospital Isidro Ayora during the period March-December 2016 in order to provide local information about the disease and its occurrence. parents formative evidence about this entity and also serves in the design of future interventions to prevent this pathology. It corresponds to a descriptive-prospective study carried out on 50 infants who meet the inclusion criteria; a previously validated form was used for data collection. The technique used will be reading and observation. Among the results, neonatal anemia was more frequent in neonates with a diagnosis of prematurity in 31.8%, followed by infections: sepsis 26% and pneumonia in 22%; multifactorial jaundice represents 26% of the cases.
