| Sumari: | The investigation was carried out in the Experimental School "Pio Jaramillo Alvarado", Evening Section, Parish San Sebastian, Canton and County of Loja during the period March-Julio the 2010. The purpose was to determine two salivary indexes: pH and Salivary Flow and to determine their relationship with the cavity prevalence in a group of 70 students the 8vo years old, with ages understood between 12 and 19 years with different grades of affectation for the dental cavity. The method that you use was the descriptive and traverses. The saliva was obtained when using the method of mechanical stimulation by means of the mastication of rubber bands during 5 minutes, preceded of a buccal exam to each student, registered in the odontological clinical history. Then it was taken to the laboratory of Fitochemistry for their mensuration in the Pechimeter. The sample was divided in four work groups: 1. Group I: Patient that didn't present affected teeth. 2. Group II: Patient that presented among 1-7 affected teeth. 3. Group III: Patient that presented 7 or more affected teeth. 4. Group IV: Patient that represent Factors of Risk in the Prevalence of Cavity. It was found that there is a direct relationship that is to say between the Salivary pH-flow and the prevalence of the number of the cavity that to smaller pH and salivary Flow the cavity number increases; this is equal to that the biggest cavity number, that is to say, 154 (29% of 510) they register in 19 patients (29,23%) who presented a sour pH that he/she goes from 6,00 to 6,49; and a salivary flow in the range of 1.0-0.7 ml. under 59.42% of rotten pieces (303 cavity) in 42.62% of the students. |
