Izvleček:Motherhood as an adaptation process can generate great stress with very harmful consequences. Social support would be one of the factors that would provide a source of protection against the harmful effects of stress (Cáceres-Manrique et al., 2014). The objective of this investigation research was to determine the relationship between parental stress and perceived social support, in mothers of children from 6 to 9 years of age 3from “Santa Mariana de Jesús" Fiscomisional Educational Unit from the Saraguro canton. To carry out the following investigation research, a cross-sectional, descriptive, mixed (quantitative-qualitative) study was carried out. The sample consisted of 106 mothers of children from 6 to 9 years of age, for the selection of the mentioned sample it was based on the probability of sampling technique for convenience, taking into account the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The instruments used for the research were the MOS Social Support Questionnaire, EPP10 Parental Stress Questionnaire. The results determined that more of the participants who presented a high stress level perceived medium social support; and those who showed a medium stress level perceived high social support. Thus, mothers with less stress are those who receive more Social Support. Thus establishing a statistically significant correlation between the level of parental stress and perceived social support, finally an intervention plan focused on stress management was designed to promote in mothers the knowledge and use of effective coping strategies and the search for social support in the primary network in order to reduce the effects of stress on the motherhood process.
