Sumario:The research entitled PICTOGRAPHIC STORIES AS A DIDACTIC RESOURCE TO STIMULATE MEMORY IN FIRST-YEAR CHILDREN OF BASIC GENERAL EDUCATION OF THE FISCOMISIONAL EDUCATIONAL UNIT NUESTRA SEÑORA DEL ROSARIO, LOCATED IN CANTÓN CATAMAYO, DURING THE PERIOD 2019- 2020; had as general objective to determine how the pictographic stories stimulate the memory of the 5-year-old children. In the literature review, issues related to memory, pictographic stories and how these influence learning were addressed; In the development of the research, the following methods were used: analytical-synthetic, inductive-deductive, scientific, descriptive statistics and hermeneutic. To collect the information, the Memory and Learning Test (TOMAL) was applied, which made it possible to diagnose memory capacity. The investigated sample comprised 23 children. The results made it possible to determine the initial diagnosis that there is a memory problem in a percentage of 17% of the children, placing them in the deficient and very deficient indicators and 52% being located in the medium-low indicator. To solve the problem, a guide made pictographic stories was prepared and applied, made with different materials on various topics, where a notable improvement was achieved by 26%, placing itself in the much higher and higher indicators and 73% are in the medium high and medium indicators, for this reason, teachers are encouraged to use pictographic stories as a didactic strategy aimed at stimulating memory, creativity, imagination, considered essential for the acquisition of new learning, which will allow integral development.
