Резюме:Depression is a public health problem that affects the population worldwide and one ofthe most important causes ofsuicide. This mental disorder is one of the main causes of dead in people aged 15-29. The factors that can cause depression in the family are inadequate relationships between its members, especially during the critical period that is adolescence. The purpose of this research work is to determine the presence of depression and its association with family dysfunction in adolescents who attend schools in the Changaimina parish during the school year May 2022 - February 2023. A descriptive approach was used for its study, cross-sectional; applied to a population of 161 adolescents between the ages of 12 and 19 years. Where it was obtained as results: Of the total of 161 people, 76 (47.20%) were male and 85 (52.80%) female. Depression 3 prevailed in the female sex (37.65%) obtaining a higher percentage in the moderate depression group (11.76%) and in the age group of 14 to 16 years (29.87%); family dysfunction was found in both sexes, with a predominance of the female sex (69.41%) and in the age group of 14 to 16 years (68.83%). Of the 44 students with depression (27.32%), 31.82% have mild family dysfunction, 34.09% moderate dysfunction and 22.73% severe dysfunction. Therefore, it can be established that there is a statistically significant association between depression and family dysfunction
