description | Cherimoya (Annona cherimola Mill.) is a crop with great agronomic and economic potential, considering that Ecuador has areas suitable for its production. However, this crop is poorly utilized, and its production is carried out with little technology, which affects its productivity. One of the problems of this species is the difficulty of sexual propagation, since seed germination is irregular. For this reason, the effect of the use of gibberellins, seed germination and initial growth of cherimoya was evaluated in this research. Fruits were collected at physiological maturity from the Yangana community in the province of Loja, and then the seeds were dried for a period of 2 days until they reached 12% humidity. The seeds were stored for monthly periods from 0 to 6 months under two temperature conditions: cold chamber (4 °C) and room temperature. Before sowing, seeds were treated with two doses of gibberellic acid (AG3): 0 ppm and 5000 ppm. At the end of the treatments, seed viability was evaluated by the tetrazolium test in the lab and seedling emergence. During the initial growth of the seedlings, height, number of leaves, stem diameter, length of the main root, number of secondary roots and vegetative cover were measured. The viability of seeds stored for a period of 0 to 6 months, the temperature did not affect the percentages obtained at the sixth month of seed storage in the two conditions evaluated. The emergence rate, regardless of the thermal storage condition, was maximized with applications of 5000 ppm AG3, exceeding 70% emergence in each period. Similarly, the initial development of cherimoya seedlings was favored with the application of 5000 ppm of AG3 in all the variables studied. |

Sin embargo, este cultivo es subutilizado, y su producción se realiza con escasa tecnificación lo que condiciona su productividad. Uno de los problemas de esta especie es la dificultad para la propagación sexual, ya que la germinación de las semillas es irregular. Razón por la cual, en la presente investigación se evaluó el efecto del uso de giberelinas, tiempo y temperatura de almacenamiento sobre la germinación de semillas y crecimiento inicial de chirimoya. Se colectaron frutos en estado de madurez fisiológica de la parroquia Yangana en la provincia de Loja, posteriormente se procedió a secar las semillas durante un periodo de 2 días hasta obtener un 12 % de humedad. Las semillas fueron almacenadas por periodos mensuales desde 0 a 6 meses bajo dos condiciones de temperatura: cámara fría (4 °C) y temperatura ambiente. Previo a la siembra, las semillas se trataron con dos dosis de ácido giberélico (AG3): 0 ppm y 5000 ppm. Al finalizar los tratamientos se evaluó la viabilidad de las semillas mediante el test de tetrazolio en laboratorio y emergencia de plántulas, así como, durante el crecimiento inicial de las plántulas se midió la altura, número de hojas, diámetro del tallo, longitud de la raíz principal, número de raíces secundarias y cobertura vegetal. La viabilidad de semillas almacenadas por un periodo de 0 a 6 meses la temperatura no afecto en los porcentajes obtenidos al sexto mes de almacenamiento en las dos condiciones evaluadas. La tasa de emergencia independientemente de la condición térmica de almacenamiento, se maximizó con aplicaciones de 5000 ppm de AG3 superando el 70% de emergencia en cada periodo.
