In our country the level of misinformation on health issues is high which is why we decided to do the research to know what level of knowledge they have about Pelvic Inflammatory Disease patients between 16-40 years are sexually active should ask in the service of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Hospital Emergency service Isidro Ayora of Loja. This study is descriptive and cross-sectional, conducted by collecting data through a survey of 129 women who consulted Emergency Obstetrics and Gynecology randomly chosen HIAL. The 28% of patients ranging in age range between 16-20 years old, most of respondents with 54 % are housewives, marital cohabitation more is recorded at 39 %. 91% of surveyed women who have no knowledge of pelvic inflammatory disease nor its complications, only 9 % had some information about EPI, 9 of these women knew that a complication was just 2 infertility and pregnancy ectopic. 72 % used some form of contraception being the most widely used IUDs with 19% followed by 16% condom with 85 % of patients are performed douches and 25 % have had at least one abortion being the two major risk factors for developing disease . 94 % of patients start sexually active at an age between 16 and 20 years. Through all the information was collected concludes that patients do not have adequate information about pelvic inflammatory disease and its risk factors, which if present in most if not all patients , this due to the health staff are not interested or do not adequately provide information to be received and processed in a clear and fast by the patients.
