| Résumé: | The present research work "CURRENT STATE OF THE VEHICULAR CHATARRIZATION PROCESS IN THE CITY OF LOJA", contributed to an analysis about the location of vehicles out of use in the city of Loja; besides, the destination, frequency of transfer and handling of the metallic waste generated through the maintenance and repair of vehicles in different automotive mechanics of our city. This study was carried out in the city of Loja, with the aim of analyze this recycling chain, making it possible to identify the multiple shortcomings during the chatarrization process, therefore, recommendations and alternatives to reduce the said failures were proposed. To obtain results of this research, observation sheets, surveys and interviews were applied aimed at gathering information about the current state of vehicular chatarrization in the city of Loja. It should be mentioned that primary information was also collected from entities like: Gobierno Autonomo Descentralizado Municipal de Loja, Unidad de Control de Trasporte Terrestre, Tránsito y Seguridad Vial de Loja, Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas y Censos (INEC), among others. As a result of the study, the obtained information was: 58 vehicles were found out of use, mainly in the peripheral areas of Loja city. Moreover, with the results of the survey it was possible to calculate the amount of metallic waste coming from the maintenance and repairing of vehicles in the city, being estimated a minimal quantity of 154.2 tons and a maximum of 552 tons of vehicular waste per year, and thanks to the interview made to the director of Tránsito y Seguridad Vial de Loja, it was possible to know that there is not a technical vehicular chatarrization center in this city. In addition, respect to the results on the application of Executive Decree 1791-A, it could be established that the vehicular scrapping in public institutios in the city of Loja is not fulfilled. Finally, it was made a brief analyzes of the local reality regarding to the problem of the administration of metallic waste, suggesting some possible alternatives to improve this fact; based on the valuable information researched and as well as the on-site visits to the different places where automotive waste is stored. |
