| Riassunto: | Procrastination is the act of postponing important activities for other more pleasant or irrelevant ones, bringing negative consequences, this behavior is common in university students and can lead to various problems such as anxiety, poor academic or work performance, reduced wellbeing, among others. The objective of this research was to describe the most recent scientific evidence of procrastination in university students who present anxiety levels and at the same time to know the prevalence and identify the risk factors of this problem. A non-experimental cross-sectional design with a descriptive quantitative approach was used for its execution. To develop the research, all the evidence exposed by scientific journals during the period 2012- 2022 published in the databases PubMed, PsycINFO, Scielo, Redalyc and Google Scholar was taken into account, having as a sample a representative base of 20 scientific articles selected through the use of Prisma to ensure rigor and systematicity in data collection. The results revealed that procrastination is a common problem among university students with anxiety levels, being so, about half of the students procrastinate where risk factors were identified that contribute to the emergence or maintenance of this problem such as lack of motivation, stress, excessive use of the Internet and the difficulty of tasks, and thus, these factors can trigger procrastination and increase anxiety levels among students. It is concluded that procrastination is a mental health problem which requires greater attention due to its high prevalence and its direct influence on the development of anxiety, making it a problem that requires the implementation of primary and secondary care strategies |
