Shrnutí:Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are of importance in the rhizosphere, since they establish symbiosis with approximately 80% of plants. This association contributes to a better absorption of water and nutrients, as well as to protect the root system of the plants. AMF are found in all types of soil, therefore, the present study focused on the isolation and morphological characterization of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi from agroforestry systems associated with coffee cultivation in the Malacatos, Chaguarpamba and Lozumbe areas of the province of Loja. For this, soil and rootlet samples were collected from around the coffee plants under agroforestry systems and proceeded with the isolation, spore extraction and characterization of the main AMF morphotypes. In the Malacatos (Hacienda Cristal) area, three morphotypes and 284 spores / 100 g soil were found of the genus Glomus, while in the areas of Chaguarpamba and Lozumbe, one morphotype of the genus Acaulospora and three morphotypes of Glomus were determined. In addition, for Chaguarpamba and Lozumbe 313 and 598 spores / 100 g of soil were found. The number of morphotypes and spores are related to the floristic diversity of coffee cultivation within agroforestry systems. Key words: AMF (arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi), isolation, morphotypes, agroforestry systems, coffee.
