description Gastrointestinal parasitism is a cattle disease which affects all animals without distinction and it is produced by a wide variety of parasites that lodge in the digestive tract, generating lesions and functional disorders that seriously impact weight gain and the development of animals. The present research work was carried out in Zurmi parish from Nangaritza canton in Zamora Chinchipe province. The objectives were to determine the presence of gastrointestinal parasites in cattle from the Zurmi parish, Nangaritza canton; and, analyze the factors that can influence the presence of parasitism. The approach was of a cross- sectional observational type which allowed to know exactly the positive and negative cases of gastrointestinal parasites in bovines of said parish. The sample calculation was carried out probabilistically, according to age, sex, race, type of diet; and, type of management. The diagnostic techniques used were: sedimentation and flotation. 80 samples were analyzed, which were obtained directly from the rectum of the animal. When analyzing the samples by each technique, the presence of parasites was established in 71.25% by the flotation method; and 83.75% for sedimentation. The genus of gastrointestinal parasites with the highest presence, detected with the flotation technique, was Eimeria with 32.50% and with the sedimentation technique, the genus Ascaris was found with 35%. It was determined that the deworming and sex factors significantly influence the presence of gastrointestinal parasites, in the aforementioned study. From the investigation carried out, it can be concluded that the presence of parasites in the total bovine population in the Zurmi parish was high; which represents a problem of importance, as far as the human and animal public health of this locality is concerned. Keywords: Nematodes, Trematodes, Protozoa, Parasitism, Gastrointestinal, bovine.

Keywords: Nematodes, Trematodes, Protozoa, Parasitism, Gastrointestinal, bovine.
